The novel "Ooruri Ryuseigun"

Ooruri Ryuseigun

Shin Iyohara's novel Ooruri Ryuseigun (KADOKAWA, 2022; in Japanese) tells the story of former classmates in their forties who, together with an astronomer who has returned to her hometown, build a small handmade observatory and set out to observe small bodies in the outer solar system. Memories of their youth intersect with present-day struggles, and the novel quietly depicts each character's recovery from loss.

Connection with the OASES project

The author, Shin Iyohara, has stated publicly that the central idea of the novel, "aiming to catch stellar occultations by Kuiper belt objects with high-speed video observations using small telescopes," was inspired by the results of the OASES project.
